Candidates may be nominated by individuals, organizations or groups on forms provided by Leadership Blount County during the month of January. Forms may be obtained at the Leadership Blount County office, The Daily Times, or the Chamber of Commerce. Nominees should be individuals whose work, volunteer participation and community service indicate they have a long-term commitment to Blount County’s quality of life. Each person who is nominated will receive an application form that must be filled out and returned to the Leadership Blount office by mid February.

An anonymous selection committee, made up of Leadership Blount alumni, chooses the class after reviewing all returned applications. Candidates for selection should meet at least several of the following prerequisites:

  • a sincere commitment and motivation to serve the community
  • past community activities
  • service on boards or commissions, key volunteer leadership positions, or candidacy for public office
  • potential or existing opportunities for advancement to top leadership positions within his or her own organization which may play a significant role in the community
  • commitment to attend each of the Leadership Blount program sessions
  • representative of a cross-section of the community including business, the professions, education, labor, religion, social and community services, government, media, health care, and the arts.

Nominations must be received no later than Jan 31 of each year.
